American Revolution Center Welcomes President and CEO Dr. Bruce Cole; Announces $13 Million in Public/Private Funding
WAYNE, PA – February 24, 2009 –H.F. “Gerry” Lenfest, Chairman of the American Revolution Center at Valley Forge (the “Center”), and The Honorable Edward G. Rendell, Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, will host a reception to welcome the Center’s new president and CEO, Dr. Bruce Cole, on Tuesday, February 24, at the National Constitution Center.
PHILADELPHIA – April 22, 2009 –The American Revolution Center named the following individuals to its Board of Directors: General Josiah Bunting III, President of The Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation in New York; Harold Burson, Founding Chairman of Burson-Marstellar; and Barbara J. Mitnick, Ph.D., independent art historian, museum curator, writer and lecturer. They will assist the Center in its mission to celebrate and commemorate the entire story of the American Revolution and its legacy.
Pennsylvania Society of Sons of the Revolution Provides Grant to Conserve George Washington's Revolutionary War Flag
WAYNE, PA – June 15, 2009 –The Pennsylvania Society of Sons of the Revolution (PSSR) and its Color Guard will provide a $50,000 grant to The American Revolution Center (ARC) to restore the Center's Commander-in-Chief's Standard, one of the most significant surviving flags of the American Revolution
PHILADELPHIA – June 18, 2009 –The American Revolution Center named the Honorable Margaret (Peggy) Pace Duckett and H. Richard Dietrich III to its Board of Directors. Ms. Duckett and Mr. Dietrich will assist the Center in its mission to commemorate the entire story of the American Revolution and its legacy.
WAYNE, PA– June 30, 2009 –The American Revolution Center (ARC) will present a multimedia presentation highlighting its distinguished collection of original artwork, objects, manuscripts, and printed works at Philadelphia’s Lincoln 200 Festival, which will take place on Independence Mall in Philadelphia from July 2-5.
PHILADELPHIA – July 1, 2009 – Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar and The American Revolution Center (ARC) today announced that the National Park Service has signed a land-exchange agreement with ARC to establish a national museum dedicated to the American Revolution at Independence National Historical Park.
WASHINGTON DC – December 2, 2009 –The American Revolution Center today released the first national survey assessing knowledge of the American Revolution. The report revealed that Americans highly value, but vastly overrate, their knowledge of the Revolutionary period and its significance. Results revealed that 90 percent of American adults think that knowledge of the American Revolution and its principles is very important and should be taught in schools, however, 83 percent failed when tested on knowledge of the Revolution and our Founding documents.
