The American Revolution

  • began the world’s longest period of social and economic prosperity
  • is the foundation of America’s ideals and principles
  • is the period of American history most admired internationally and least understood by Americans. (A 2001 report by the National Assessment of Education Programs shows that 57% of America’s 12th-graders have a less than basic knowledge of U.S. history.)
 
The American Revolution Center is
  • establishing the world’s first center to commemorate the complete story of the American Revolution and its ongoing legacy by:
    • building a museum to showcase its preeminent collection of American Revolution objects, artifacts and manuscripts
    • providing distance learning opportunities for students and the general public
    • hosting programs, lectures, symposia
    • creating linkages to Revolutionary sites worldwide
The Center will include:
  • 30,000 square feet of exhibit space to inform and inspire people about the surprising, culturally rich and ethnically diverse period of the American Revolution
  • Auditorium for school and scholarly presentations
  • Outdoor terrace and programming spaces
  • Trails and walkways through the 78-acre site
The Center has
  • a distinguished collection of national treasures from the period of the American Revolution
  • 78-acres in Valley Forge adjacent to Valley Forge National Historical Park
  • a world-class design team that includes:
