Discovery Cart: Camp Follower's Pack

Did you know that women and children followed the British and Continental armies in the Revolutionary War? This Discovery Cart highlights the stories of these people. Try on a pack full of the goods that a woman would have carried on campaign, and imagine what it was like to provide critical services - laundry, sewing, and selling produce - that supported the armies.

Spring Break at the Museum

Two hundred and forty years ago, in the spring of 1778, the Continental Army and its followers were preparing to leave Valley Forge and march into an uncertain future. This spring break, join educators everyday at 11:00 am as they demonstrate activities and crafts from the Revolutionary period, including shoemaking, tailoring, fencing, and the work of the men and women who supported the armies.
