Why Support The American Revolution Center?

The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution enshrined the liberties and rights which Americans have exercised over the last two centuries. As the framers of those documents understood, knowledge of our charters, our institutions, and of our rights and responsibilities is vital for the survival of our democratic republic. For many people, knowledge of these fundamental tenets of our democracy is unknown. Polls, tests and research show that citizens, especially our young people, do not even know the most basic facts and concepts of our founding.

The American Revolution Center is raising funds to establish a national museum to showcase its superb collection of Revolutionary War art and artifacts that will provide a portal into the complete story of the Revolution. It will promote serious scholarly research into the war and the ongoing ramifications of the Founding. But it will also reach far beyond the Revolution and far beyond our borders to enhance the study of the national and international repercussions of our revolution and of the nature of revolutions universally. The Center will serve our Nation’s students by providing lesson plans and a host of other teaching resources.

As we work toward opening the doors of a national museum, we are documenting, preserving, and researching our distinguished collection of objects, artifacts, and manuscripts from the American Revolution. In addition, we are working in partnership with other cultural and civic institutions to mount special exhibitions for public display.

As part of our education program, we are presenting educational programs, lectures, and symposia in collaboration with national and international institutions and organizations. We are also developing robust educational programs for students, teachers, and the general public that are being made available through our website.
